Triggered primarily by professional and academic linkage with Agricultural Universities, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi has been able to foster a countrywide arrangement with the AUs to set aside 15% of their seats for Bachelor degree programmes to be admitted through ICAR’s All India Entrance Examination so as to reduce inbreeding, increase mobility among students, encourage national integration and infuse merit and uniform examination standards leading to improved overall quality of agricultural education. Accordingly, ICAR conducts All India Entrance Examination for Admission (AIEEA) to Bachelor degree programmes in agriculture and allied subjects, other than veterinary sciences, at Agricultural Universities on 15% of the University seats every year. For NDRI, Karnal, an ICAR-Deemed- to-be-University, 100% seats are filled up through the above examination.
National Talent Scholarships (NTS) are awarded based on the AIEEA-UG examination to all those candidates who take admission outside their state of domicile. Further, not more than 40% candidates from any one state are admitted in any agricultural university/subject. ICAR’s 18th AIEEA-UG-2013 examination for the academic session 2013-14 will be conducted at 42 examination city centres spread all over the country, enabling participation of a large number of candidates seeking admission in Bachelor degree programmes in AUs in different disciplines.
Candidates qualified for counseling will be considered for allocation of subject and the Agricultural University as per counseling procedure described hereinafter. There is no direct nomination for admission through ICAR in any Bachelor degree programme without qualifying in this examination.
DEGREE PROGRAMMES AVAILABLE FOR ADMISSION
Admission to 11 Bachelor degree programmes of four years duration in the subjects of:
(v) Home Science
(viii) Agricultural Engineering
(ix) Dairy Technology
(x) Food Science and
(xi) Agricultural Marketing & Cooperation etc. is available to Indian Nationals based on merit-rank in ICAR’s All India Entrance Examination.
For the purpose of Entrance Examination, above 11 degree programmes are categorized into two Streams viz. Stream-A: Agriculture/Biology and Stream-B: Mathematics. The candidate has a right to exercise option only for one Stream at the time of submitting the application. The option once exercised cannot be changed subsequently.
STREAM-A (Agriculture/Biology): Candidates under this stream can seek admission for Bachelor degree programmes in Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Forestry, Home Science, Sericulture, Food Science, and Biotechnology.
STREAM-B (Mathematics): Candidates under this stream can seek admission for Bachelor degree programmes in Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Marketing & Co-operation and also in Forestry, Food Science and Biotechnology at some of the Agricultural Universities provided Biology has been one of the subjects during 10+2 examination.
Age and Nationality
Indian Nationals of at least 17 years of age but not more than 23 years as on 31.08.2013 (i.e. must have been born between 01.09.1990 to 01.09.1996) are eligible to apply for the examination. No relaxation of age will be allowed to the candidates except for SC/ST/PH categories where upper age limit would be relaxable by 5 years.
(i) Candidate must have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination within scope and standard found to be equivalent to the Senior Secondary Examination of an Indian Board/ University after a period of 12 years of study. The last two years of such 10+2 examination should have papers in Physics, Chemistry and any one of the subjects from Biology/ Mathematics/ Agriculture* /Home Science**. Besides, for admission in the Universities specifically
located in non-Hindi speaking areas, candidate must have passed English as a core subject in 10+2 examination.
* Intermediate with Agriculture and having not studied Physics and Chemistry as separate subjects may also be eligible for admission in some SAUs in State of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
** Intermediate with Agriculture would be eligible for admission in limited AUs.
(ii) (a) Candidate must have passed any one of the qualifying examinations enumerated above securing not less than 50% marks in aggregate for General, OBC and UPS categories and 40% marks in aggregate for SC, ST and PH categories.
(b) Candidate having a compartment/ supplementary in any of the subjects will not be eligible unless proof of having cleared the examination with requisite percentage as in (ii)(a) above is available.
Candidate appearing in the qualifying examination enumerated above, can also apply
but would be required to submit evidence of having satisfied the conditions in (i) & (ii), latest by the counseling date, as otherwise the candidature will be automatically cancelled.
Candidates opting for Stream-A in the entrance examination should have passed 10+2 examination enumerated above necessarily with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Agriculture/ Home Science subjects whereas those opting for Stream-B should have passed 10+2 examination necessarily with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.
Note: While submitting application, candidate must ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility criteria in entirety.
Examination Schedule (i) DATE OF EXAMINATION: SATURDAY, the 20 April, 2013 (ii) DURATION: 2½ hours, Time 10.00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.
Subject Streams, Question Paper and Writing Answers in the Examination
(i) The examination shall be conducted in one of the two subject streams namely ‘StreamA’ comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Agriculture/Biology subjects and ‘STREAMB’ comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.
(ii) Questions for Physics and Chemistry subjects shall be common for both subject streams.
(iii) Paper for ‘Stream–A’ shall carry questions on Biology as well as Agriculture subject, out of which the candidate has to attempt/opt/ choose only one subject, either Biology or Agriculture. ‘Stream–B’ paper carries questions on Mathematics subject.
(iv) Question paper will have 180 multiple-choice objective type questions, each with four options, 60 questions in Physics, serially numbered from 1-60, 60 questions in Chemistry, numbering from 61-120 and 60 questions in Agriculture/Biology/Mathematics, numbering from 121-180.
(v) Marking Scheme: Each correctly answered question will earn four marks, with a maximum of 720 marks for the paper. For each incorrect answer one mark will be deducted from the total score. Question with no response indicated will not be awarded any mark and there will be no negative marking for that question.
The candidates are advised not to attempt such questions in the OMR answer sheet, for which they are not sure of the correct answer. More4 Information Bulletin AIEEA-UG-2013 than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect answer and will invite negative marking.
(vi) Candidate will be required to choose the correct answer and mark in the OMR answer sheet by darkening the corresponding circle/ bubble against the serial number of the question with black/ blue ball-point pen.
(vii) Question paper for the examination shall be bilingual, i.e., in ENGLISH and HINDI. In case of any variation in English and Hindi versions of question(s), English version will be taken as the final and correct version.
(viii) Syllabus for the Examination is given at ANNEXURE-I.
(ix) A visually challenged (blind) candidate, can request for the services of amanuensis (scribe) who must be one grade junior in academic qualification i.e. not more than X / Matriculation pass in the present case and should not be related to the candidate. For amanuensis, the candidate must submit a separate request letter, at least one week in advance, to the concerned Nodal Officer of the Examination City Centre giving a copy of the PD/PH certificate issued by a competent authority.
The services of amanuensis (Scribe) who whould be from academic discipline other than that of the candidate, shall be provided free of cost by the Nodal Officer. The scribe will have to give a suitable undertaking, confirming that the scribe fulfils all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe as mentioned above. In case later on it is proved that candidate has suppressed material facts, the candidature of the applicant will stand cancelled, irrespective of the outcome of result of the written test. Such candidates who use a scribe shall be eligible for extra time of 50 minutes during examination.
Examination City Centres
(i) A list of Examination City Centres with numeric codes and the contact addresses of Nodal Officer at those cities is given in ANNEXURE–VI.
(ii) Candidate must fill the code number for the Examination City Centre from where he/she opts to appear for the Examination.
(iii) Examination City Centre, once opted, shall not be allowed to be changed later on. The Admit Card (candidate copy) is to be retained by the candidate and no changes will be possible. In case of any problem
please contact COE (Edn.) on telephone after third week of March 2013.
Ensuring Eligibility Requirements are Satisfied:
Candidate should fill-up the Application Form with due care and must ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility requirements for the examination as well as admission as detailed therein. No certificates are required to be attached with the Application at the time of submission of Application. Eligibility of the candidate for the examination and admission later on is not checked until the date of counseling/ personal appearance of the candidate when the related documents are checked and verified. In case of admission through wait list, the documents / certificates etc. will be checked directly at the time of admission in the admitting university. In case the candidate is found not-eligible at any stage, his/ her candidature would be summarily rejected.
Options for Agricultural University/ Subject for Admission: Candidates are not required to give any option for admission in any Agricultural University/subjects at the time of filling up of application form. The admission/allotment of seats in the Agricultural Universities will be made through personal appearance/ counseling in accordance with the choice made by the candidate in the Counseling Form, and as per the seats available at his/her merit-rank within the Stream in which he/ she appeared for the Entrance Examination.
Admit Card: The Admit Card, in duplicate, has been provided along with the Application Form. The candidate must fill all the entries in the Admit Card except roll number and examination venue, retain one copy (candidate copy) and submit the other copy (office copy) along with the application.
The roll number allotted to the candidate and the venue of examination would be displayed on the ICAR website at www.icar.org.in as per Application Booklet Sl. No. (offline application) / Sr. No. printed on computer generated confirmation page (online applications) and Date of Birth, from where the candidate is required to note down the details and fill the same in the copy of the Admit Card (candidate copy) retained by him/her.
This copy of Admit Card must be duly attested by Principal of the School/College last attended or a Gazetted Officer and brought to the Examination Hall for appearing in the examination Candidate may note that without the attestation of photo as well as signature, thumb impression of the candidate on both the
copies, the admit card will be rejected.
Candidate is advised to preserve this admit card (candidate copy) till completion of admission process in an Agricultural University. In case of any difficulty in obtaining the roll number/examination venue from the ICAR website, the candidate is advised to contact the Nodal Officer of the respective Examination City center, two days before the scheduled examination date (see ANNEXUREVI for contact details of Nodal Officers).
